Your child often feels excited, confused, and scared about their emerging independence.<\/p>\n<p>Temper tantrums may start happening regularly. Even though they can now do so much more \u2013 walk, run, talk \u2013 they often see things they\u2019d like to have or do, but can\u2019t. This is frustrating and leads to tantrums!<\/p>\n<p>At this age, children are by nature very self-centered. They know other kids exist and they\u2019re interested in them. However, they really aren\u2019t able to understand that they also think and feel. Therefore, it\u2019s normal that your child isn\u2019t ready to share their toys. They\u2019ll enjoy playing \u201cin parallel\u201d or next to their little friends.<\/p>\n<p>Most children at this age can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Kick a ball forward.<\/li>\n<li>Say at least 20 words.<\/li>\n<li>Put 2 words together.<\/li>\n<li>Name body parts or name a picture that you point to.<\/li>\n<li>Stack a tower of four blocks.<\/li>\n<li>Imitate grownups \u2013 they\u2019ll talk on a toy cell phone just like you!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Your child may be ready to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jump getting both feet off the floor.<\/li>\n<li>Speak 50 words.<\/li>\n<li>Throw a ball overhand.<\/li>\n<li>Speak, but only about half their speech is understandable now, so don\u2019t worry too much if you\u2019re the only one who gets what they\u2019re saying.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Remember, all children develop at their own rate. So, if your little one isn&#8217;t doing all these things just yet, you&#8217;ll likely see them soon.
